The former YJFL Best and Fairest winner announces his retirement after a storied AFL career.
Matthew Kreuzer has announced his AFL retirement after a 13-year career at Carlton. Kreuzer played 189 games for the Blues after being the No. 1 draft pick back in 2007.
Kreuzer suffered many injury setbacks during his career including an ACL rupture in 2010. Multiple ankle and knee injuries also hampered the big ruckman so much so that he only had five seasons where he played over 20 games.
Matthew was a junior in the YJFL for the St Mary’s Greensborough Junior Football Club and was a league best and fairest winner in his Under 10 year in 1999. He then was selected at TAC Cup level for the Northern Knights and was a standout during his two years at the club, kicking 51 goals from 33 games.

The 2007 National Draft proved successful as Kreuzer went No.1 alongside good friend Trent Cotchin (No.2) and other soon to be great players Brad Ebert (No.13) and Patrick Dangerfield (No.10).
