Young stars to take centre stage in the AFL Vic Metro Junior Development Series



The 2023 AFL Victoria Metro Junior Development Series (MJDS) is set to commence this Wednesday 31st May featuring the best under 14 and 15 boys and girls talent from community football leagues across metropolitan Melbourne.


The much-anticipated event will kick off on Wednesday evening under lights, before continuing on the King’s Birthday long weekend with games to be played on Saturday, June 10 and Monday, June 12.



The MJDS gives will provide a platform for the best young players in the metro leagues to showcase their talent and develop their skills against high quality opposition as part of the talent pathway to higher-level programs for boys and girls, such as the Coates Talent League.


The Yarra Junior Football League (YJFL) will compete in the tournament against teams from the Eastern Football Netball League, Essendon District Football League, Northern Football Netball League, Riddell District Football Netball League, South Metro Junior Football League and the Western Region Football League.


The competition has expanded to now include an Under 14 Girls division, with a total of 69 matches to be played across the three match days in the following seven divisions:

  • U15 Boys Division 1 and 2

  • U15 Girls Division 1 and 2

  • U14 Boys Division 1 and 2

  • U14 Girls Division

The YJFL will have teams participating in all divisions across all three days of the tournament and will host home games from Ford Park, Bellfield and Binnak Park, Watsonia.

The YJFL will live stream all home matches with commentary via our Facebook and our YJFL Match Vision Portal on our website.
