YJFL stars to take centre stage in Herald Sun Shield Grand Finals

Several YJFL players are set to play off in the Herald Sun Shield Senior and Intermediate Grand Finals this Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 August at Trevor Barker Oval, Sandringham.


In its 45th year, the Herald Sun Shield was first played in 1977 and has a rich history of showcasing some of the best school teams and players in the state.


The Grand Finals will take place over two days, and will feature over 40 YJFL participants from 16 different clubs, kicking off with a triple-header fixture of games.

The Senior Girls will kick off the action on Wednesday, with Caulfield Grammar out to make it back-to-back titles when they face Melbourne Girls Grammar at 10am. The Intermediate Boys will follow, with Parade College taking on Rowville Secondary College at 12:05pm. Parade will also feature in the Senior Final when they take on Maribyrnong College at 2:10pm.


On Thursday, Carey Grammar will take on Sacred Heart College Geelong in the Intermediate Girls Grand Final with the Carey side featuring 20 YJFL participants.
