The Victorian Sports Awards, organised by Sport and Recreation Victoria, celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions of individuals, teams, and organisations in the Victorian sports community. The YJFL's 'Injury Surveillance Project' is a research endeavour that aims to enhance player safety and well-being within the league. Developed in partnership with Latrobe University's renowned sports medicine researchers, the project has utilised advanced data collection techniques and analysis to identify injury patterns and risk factors among young footballers. This vital information has allowed the league to implement evidence-based strategies and interventions to reduce the occurrence and severity of injuries.

"We are honored to be recognized as a finalist in the Leasexpress Sport Initiative of the Year category at the 2022 Victorian Sports Awards," said Aaron Bailey, CEO of the Yarra Junior Football League.

"Our Injury Surveillance Project represents our ongoing commitment to prioritising the safety and welfare of our participants.”

“We are grateful for our partnership with La Trobe University, whose expertise and collaboration have been instrumental in this groundbreaking research."

The winners of the 2022 Victorian Sports Awards will be announced on Wednesday, 7th June at Marvel Stadium.
