YJFL reaches significant milestone

We’re proud to announce the completion of the YJFL Women & Girls Community Football Charter — a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to grow, support and celebrate female participation in football across our league. The Women & Girls Charter outlines the actions the YJFL will take over the next 12 months to create more inclusive, welcoming and inclusive environments for women and girls.

We also celebrate the 15 clubs and our umpiring group that have already become charter signatories:Ashburton, Brunswick, Fitzroy, Glen Iris, Heidelberg, Kew Comets, Kew Rovers, Macleod, North Brunswick, Parade St Damian’s, Park Orchards, Preston, St Mary’s, Surrey Park, Warrandyte, and the YJFL Umpires.

This charter is not just for those clubs that have girls’ teams as it recognises that women are integral to all clubs — not just as players, but as leaders, volunteers and supporters.

Being a signatory to the Women & Girls charter, clubs will receive the following benefits:

• Correspondence on all upcoming women and girls’ initiatives, grants and opportunities

• Favourable consideration when assessing applications for AFL based funding initiatives that relate to women and girls

• The ability for your club to be searched via Club Finders under the Women & Girls Charter to support recruitment

• A suite of digital assets for your club website, social media and advertising – recognition

• A Women & Girls Community Football Charter poster that can be publicly displayed acknowledging the clubs commitment

• A guided process to provide evidence in line with possible Fair Access requirements from LGA’s

We hope that all YJFL clubs become signatories to the Women and Girls Community Football Charter.
