YJFL announces new CEO Aaron Bailey

The Yarra Junior Football League (YJFL) is pleased to announce the appointment of Aaron Bailey as the league’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO).


Aaron has over 10 years of experience in sport and education with an extensive background in football, joining the YJFL after six years as CEO of the Outer East Football and Netball League and having previously held positions with the Eastern Football and Netball League and the Eastern Ranges.


With over 400 games as a community umpire and experience as a coach at community and NAB League level, Aaron has a deep understanding of key development areas and pathways that align with the YJFL.


Aaron has a passion for gender equity and inclusion in community sport and has been involved in the development and implementation of several women’s and girls’ competitions, and his contribution in this area has seen a significant increase in the participation and retention of players at a community level.


Aaron brings significant management experience and leadership skills to the role, and he has demonstrated an ability to develop meaningful relationships with community football clubs, volunteers, and participants.

YJFL President, Ishbel Moodie, said Aaron was chosen after a comprehensive recruitment process, citing his experience as a key factor in his selection.

Commenting on the appointment, Aaron said he was excited to take on the new role and work with the YJFL community.


“I am extremely grateful to Ishbel and the Board for the privilege of being able to lead one of the premier junior football competitions in the country.”


“Our focus will be to engage and work with clubs, volunteers and the broader YJFL community in setting a shared strategic vision for the region.”


“The aim will be to create the best possible experience for both boys and girls in their football journeys.”


Aaron will commence in the role from Monday, November 7, 2022.
