The Yarra Junior Football League (YJFL) is delighted to announce that Gary Brown and Jacinta Mulholland will join the league in official club support roles for the 2023 season.
Brown joins the team with over 20 years of experience in community sport, having previously held leadership positions at Cricket Victoria and AFL Victoria in the community and club development space. Brown spent 13 years at AFL Victoria as the Community Development Manager covering a range of focus areas including community and multicultural engagement, club support, participation growth, female football and coach education.
As the Club Development Manager, Brown will work directly with YJFL clubs assisting with the development and education of coaches as well as providing support for at-risk clubs and improving multicultural engagement throughout the region.
Mulholland will take on a Club Support Officer role in 2023, having previously held this role in 2022 for AFL Victoria. Mulholland is a qualified teacher and has been a long-standing volunteer in the league across numerous positions at Surrey Park JFC. She is a strong advocate for inclusion and female football development, and her primary focus will be managing child safety, grants, and policy development within clubs.
YJFL Chief Executive Officer, Aaron Bailey said the new appointments were a significant investment in club, coach, and volunteer development for our league.
“The aim is to provide high level support for our clubs and volunteers, whilst creating a safe, engaging and welcoming match day experience for our players through an increased focus on coach education and development and child safety.”
“To be able to bring in people of Gary and Jacinta’s experience and standing is very exciting for our competition.”
“We welcome Gary and Jacinta to the YJFL and look forward to watching them work alongside our clubs in the upcoming 2023 season.”
Brown and Mulholland will commence in their positions on 16 January 2023.
