The Under 12 Future Development Program was designed to give players a taste to the training expectations, performance preparation and coaching for a YJFL representative team. It was also a great opportunity to make new friends from across the league. Clubs were asked to nominate 2 girls and 2 boys born in 2006 who they believed deserved this opportunity.
The program involved five weeks of training from some of YJFL’s best coaches. Under 13 Interleague coaches Jono Black & Gerry Baldori looked after the boys. While the girls had a number of great coaches including: Maddy Haydar, Katrina Poolman, Melissa Seto, Amber Macailiffe, Beth Scott & Aimee Pagram. Ines Mackay & Emily Bacon were the teams head coaches for the match.
After all the hard work at training it was time to put it into a match, in which the squads were divided into two teams (Teal & White) . This was held on Sunday the 16th of September at Bulleen Park.
First up we had the girls match. Both teams played incredibly well especially considering they are not used to playing on a larger ground. It was great to see both teams hit the scoreboard in an incredibly even match. Next we had the boys match. Due to larger number of boys, it was decided that they would play an extra quarter to allow fair rotation. This match was also played to a great standard and very evenly played.
Special thanks to all the umpires who assisted with these matches:
Charlotte Allen, Tom McCarthy, Rosie Dodds , Lachlan Paterson, Jordan Allen, John Taylor, Conor Whiting, Joshua Stacey & Harvey Ford.
Thanks to all the clubs and parents for their support of this program.
