Presidents and Coaches Coordinators Dinner

On Wednesday Night all club Presidents and Coaching Directors were invited to YJFL for a dinner and meeting.  This was a great opportunity for the clubs to meet each other and welcome the new presidents to the league.

President of the board Jeff Hooper opened proceedings with the assistance of Vice President Tim Murray.

David Mitton from SALT (Sport & Life and Training) presented about their program. SALT deliver education and leadership sessions to sporting clubs, regarding a number of issues presenting in society. David discussed the impact sporting clubs have on individuals and the community and the positive difference they can create. The clubs found David’s speech very informative and for those clubs interested in having their own SALT session please head to their website. https://www.sportandlifetraining.com.au

Jeff Hooper discussed the new structure of the league and board to the clubs and the direction the league is heading towards. Following Jeff, Peter Nicholls announced the leagues three new sponsors (Hiredepot, Club Warehouse and Day2Day rewards). More information about these sponsors will be announced provided on the website and social media outlets in the coming weeks.

David Hannan the leagues Umpires Manager discussed the leagues umpires. David noted that we are lacking senior umpires and encouraged clubs to be patient with the new and younger umpires. We also encourage clubs to promote female umpiring within their club to support the continual growth of female football.

Jeff also made a presentation to Ian Gray after his many years of contribution to the league. We appreciate Ian’s many years on serving on the board and wish him all the best with his future endeavours.

Board member Lesley Langley discussed the play the rules website and the benefits they provide to clubs.

Closing the night was Peter Nicholls discussing a few topics including grading, representative, football, ANZAC day, North East Link and ground audits.

A big thank to Canteen Manager Judith Barr for putting on a fabulous meal for all guests.

Once again, we appreciate all the time and effort the clubs provide. Without volunteers, these children would not have the chance to play this fantastic sport. This was a great event to kick off the year and we look forward to working with all the club presidents to have a successful season 2018.
