In Wednesday night’s AFLW National Draft, six former Yarra Junior Football League players were selected by a club to join the 2022 competition.
This is an amazing achievement for these girls and shows that their years of dedication and development have payed off.
Jasmine Fleming
From the ovals of Ashy to the big stage, Jasmine Fleming has been selected as pick 2 to Hawthorn in the 2022 AFL Women’s National Draft.
Jas played at the Ashy Redbacks from 2013 up until last year, amassing 66 games in her career. She was a star junior athlete, also excelling in cricket but ultimately chose footy to make a career of.
Jas played for Oakleigh Chargers in 2021 and 2022, where she cemented her spot has a top prospect in this years draft.

J’Noemi Anderson
Congratulations to J’Noemi Anderson for being selected at pick 16 in tonight’s 2022 AFLW National Draft to St Kilda.
J’Noemi spent a season with Richmond in 2019 and played 8 games in the U15 side.

Rylie Wilcox
Congratulations to Rylie Wilcox, formerly of Parkside and Fitzroy who has been selected at pick 21 in the AFL Women’s National Draft.
Rylie played 34 games in the YJFL, 28 for Parkside in 2018 & 19 and 6 for Fitzroy in 2021. And was named in the Youth Girls Team of the Year in 2021.
Rylie also represented the YJFL in 2019 playing all 3 games in the Metro Series. She played at Northern Knights as well as 3 games for Carlton in the VFLW.

Charlotte Taylor
Pick 30 in the 2022 AFL Women’s National Draft, former Beverley Hills player Charlotte Taylor has been drafted to the Magpies.
After 56 games for the Hills starting in 2016, Charlotte is a favourite down at Zerbes. Also representing the YJFL for 6 games in the 2018 & 19 Metro Series Charlotte went on to play for the Oakleigh Chargers for 16 games and also representing Vic Metro over the last two years. She has spent much of this year playing with Collingwood in their VFLW side, even kicking a few goals.
Charlotte was interviewed earlier this and spoke of her junior footy career; ““I (first) played in Year 8. “I started with a few friends from athletics, we started at Beverley Hills Football Club,” Taylor said. “I’ve loved it ever since. “I played for Yarra Magpies for a few intraclub matches and stuff like that, and then was fortunate to get an offer by Oakleigh.”

Mia Busch
Selected by Essendon at pick 36 in the 2022 AFL Women’s National Draft is Mia Busch.
Mia formerly played at Ashburton (9 games in 2015) & former YJFL Club Blackburn (17 games in 2016).
Mia then elevated her game at the Eastern Ranges in 2021 and 2022 where she played 18 games and then even further representing Vic Metro.

Caitlin Matthews
A father-daughter selection, picked at #81 to St Kilda Caitlin was confirmed earlier in the week. Caitlin had a huge junior career with the Camberwell Sharks and a small spell with Bulleen Templestowe.
Caitlin started her footy journey as the only girl in her first Auskick session and played well under her age for many years to follow.
67 games for the Sharks, starting in 2015, Caitlin also represented the YJFL in 2018 in the U15 Division 1 side.
