Since 2011 the YJFL has hosted many teams from adjoining Leagues as they began to build up their own girls football programs.

In 2016, these hosted clubs successfully transitioned back into their own Leagues as the growth in girls football continued to bloom.

In the inaugural season of the AFLW nine former Youth Girls players were drafted and lived out their dream of playing Australian Rules football.

Currently as of the 2023 AFLW Season there are 29 former players of the YJFL at AFLW clubs.
