Round Five Weekly Wrap

With grading games done and dusted it was time for the season to head into full swing. With this round falling on Mother’s Day it was great to see so many clubs support and pay thanks to all the wonderful mothers in the community.

This Sunday we have our Under 8’s Day at Bulleen Park. This is a great round robin carnival to celebrate the participation of our youngest age group. The day will begin at 9:00am at Bulleen Park. Clubs have been sent map layouts and fixtures. There will be BBQs, canteen and a jumping castle on the day. We hope all the participants enjoy the day. We also are pleased to announce that we have a sponsor for this event and the following Sundays Under 9s day. Dynamic Footy Skills will proudly support these two fantastic days, make sure you head to their website to see the fantastic programs they offer. https://www.dynamicfootyskills.com.au/

It was great to see so many clubs on the weekend support important charities such as Beyond Blue &  Breast Cancer Network Australia.

All Templestowe  and Doncaster teams wore blue wristbands on Sunday to show that talking about mental health issues is important. Richmond teams wore pink socks on the weekend to raise awareness for families affected by breast cancer and to acknowledge the important role women play in grassroots sport. Macleod also showed their support to the breast cancer network by wearing pink armbands. Kew Comets did their bit by raising money through the Pink Bun Campaign. Profits from each bun sold went directly to the Breast Cancer Network Australia.

Ashburton are calling for any Women over 30 that may be interested in their master’s team to head to their come and try day this Saturday at 11:30am at Burwood Reserve. Head to their Facebook page for more information.

Toyota’s Good for Footy Raffle is back in 2018. Toyota provides the prizing, tickets and marketing materials and all money raised goes directly to your club! Registrations are now open until tickets are exhausted, go to https://www.toyota.com.au/partnerships/afl/raffle for more information and to register.

Congratulations to former Beverley Hills junior Ed Phillips, who made his debut for St Kilda on Saturday Night against Fremantle. Ed finished up with 24 disposals, including 5 tackles.

Good Luck to all the YJFL players playing for Northern Knights in the TAC Cup Girls Grand Final on Saturday against Geelong Falcons. Head down to Avalon Airport at 12:30pm if you would like to support the girls.

A reminder that if you want a story from your club to feature in our weekly wrap, please send Shannon (shannon.lennie@yarrajfl.org.au) an email by the Tuesday 12pm.
