Grand Final Preview - U16 Girls (1)

Park Orchards and Surrey Park meet in the biggest game of the year for the Under 16 Girls

competition this Sunday at Ford Park.

Park Orchards finished the H&A season in 2nd spot on the ladder, with 11 wins and 1 draw

from 13 matches. They won through to the Grand Final after defeating top of the ladder side

Camberwell in the first week of finals.

Surrey Park finished in 4 the spot with an 8 win and 5 loss record from their 13 games, and

similarly they also accounted for Camberwell in last week’s Preliminary Final to win their spot

in Sunday’s Grand Final.

When these two sides last met, it was Park Orchards who prevailed by 45 points in Round

12. They also met during the grading period, where Park Orchards recorded a 30 point win

in Round 1.

Players to watch:

Surrey Park

#22 Zara Phan – An absolute powerhouse through the midfield who isn’t afraid to take the

game on. With the ability to drive forward and nail long-range goals, Zara can make an

impact anywhere on the field and has some remarkable skills for such a young player.

#9 Sasha D’Odorico – Midfield speedster who brings plenty of energy whether she’s playing

inside or out. She has a great eye for finding space, loves to run and carry the ball, and her

impressive tackle count this season has been a real highlight.

#5 Bronte McCallum – The ultimate utility player who can slot in anywhere. A brilliant

defender with a knack for shutting down opponents and holding the fort across the back line,

but she’s equally dangerous pushing forward and booting some monster goals.

Park Orchards

#18 Lucia Waldren - The captain and has been a fantastic leader this year. Playing mostly in

the back line, Lucia has a great read on the game and is courageous in the air, often turning

defence in attack.

#67 Jess Fortington - plays mostly through the midfield. Highly competitive and brings a

heap of energy to our team. She plays an attacking style and has a fantastic left foot.

#9 Sienna Marcou - Sienna brings X factor. She has great goal sense, super foot skills and

loves to share the ball and bring others into the game.
