Round 3 in the AFLW has finished up for all the former YJFL 2020 draftees with great goals kicked by three of the women.
Opening the round, Jess and her Bulldogs got the victory over the struggling Cats at GMHBA Stadium. The low scoring affair was highlighted by Jess’ (formally of St Mary’s) run from the wing, long kicking goal. Beating two opponents with a tap of the ball over their heads, Jess got the perfect bounce up, ran to the arc and delivered an amazing kick through the middle posts for 6 points. Jess finished the game with eight disposals and five tackles.
In the historic rivalry between Richmond and Collingwood, it was the Magpies who came out on top in this clash. Bulleen Templestowe’s very own, Joanna Lin once again proved herself on the big stage after a convincing performance on the wing and a crucial goal, her first in AFLW.

In the losing side in that battle, Richmond’s Ellie McKenzie showed why she is the future of AFLW. A 12 disposal, 2 goal game, Ellie had a cracking game in the forward line putting through her first career AFLW goal. A great pick up on the forward flank, the former Roy streamed in the goal square with two bounces and kicked truly only metres from the goal line.

In what was called the game of the round, Eliza (Ashy Redbacks) and her Demons pulled off a great win against flag favourites North Melbourne. The nine-point victory was the third game for 2020 pick no. 15, and she totalled 4 disposals.
Mimi Hill, the former Comet had a quieter game for her Blues. Off the bench, Mimi collected six possessions in Carlton’s first victory of the season against St Kilda by 24 points.
