The Yarra Junior Football League has been running Girls Football Competitions since 2011.

The League commenced with a Youth Girls competition before adding an Under 12 competition the following year.
 

Girls football has continued to flourish and in 2023 the number of players was 2331.
 

We currently having the following competitions for female only:
 

  • Under 9 Girls (modified rules)

  • Under 11 Girls (U10 Girls in lowest division)

  • Under 12 Girls

  • Under 13 Girls

  • Under 14 Girls

  • Under 15 Girls

  • Under 16 Girls

  • Youth Girls (Under 18)
     

Since 2011 the YJFL has hosted many teams from adjoining Leagues as they began to build up their own girls football programs.
 

In 2016, these hosted clubs successfully transitioned back into their own Leagues as the growth in girls football continued to bloom.
 

In the inaugural season of the AFLW nine former Youth Girls players were drafted and lived out their dream of playing Australian Rules football.
 

Currently as of the 2023 AFLW Season there are 29 former players of the YJFL at AFLW clubs.
