Coronavirus Announcement for the YJFL community (26/3/20)

Dear Parents & Families,

As you may know, the YJFL has suspended refunds of fees paid to the YJFL by parents at the start of the season.

The AFL has advised that Clubs & Leagues should defer consideration of repayment of any fees until the end of the season. Please see the AFL announcement:

This means we won’t make any further announcement about refunds until September 2020. At the end of this pandemic, we must have a League & Member clubs that can run our competition in 2021. Being financially sound is a crucial part of that assessment.

I again assure you that whatever it takes, we will run some form of competition in 2020, assuming always that our government is comfortable we can play safely, & our players are insured.

We have discussed a ‘mini’ season in July & August, with finals in the September school holidays, as well as many other options that may work. We have our ground at Bulleen Park where we could play games day & night, and we would hope to persuade Councils to extend our access for 2-3 weeks at a few grounds across the 9 Council municipalities we cover. Touch football or AFL-9’s type rules may offer us some options too, should contact between players still be an issue.
