YJFL CEO Announcement

2nd May, 2019

The YJFL is delighted to announce the appointment of Tim Murray as CEO, effective from Tuesday, 30 April, 2019.

Jeff Hooper (YJFL President) signs the contract for the new YJFL CEO

(Tim Murray), with fellow director & Treasurer Ishbel Moodie looking on.

YJFL President Jeff Hooper said Tim was chosen after long deliberation by the YJFL board about the future needs of the organisation, given the retirement in 2020 of the YJFL’s long-serving General Manager, Peter Nicholls.

“Tim is an outstanding choice, bringing a wealth of experience from both a football and business background. He is a former League Vice-President & Football Director, YJFL Club President, & Football Director, a Level 2 AFL coach, & the father of two boys who have umpired, one of whom in Premier grade in VAFA”, he said.

Previously Tim held senior Sales & Marketing Management positions in a range of technology companies, including IBM, Optus, British Telecom & Murray Strategic Aged Care.

“This appointment marks an exciting new chapter for the YJFL and the Board is looking forward to working with Tim to ensure the YJFL continues to deliver on its mission to provide an outstanding junior football competition,” Mr Hooper said.

Commenting on the appointment, Tim said he was excited to be taking on the role.

“The YJFL is undoubtedly the greatest ‘not-for-profit’ organisation in Australia. We provide wonderful experiences and learnings for children across our community, and keep them active and engaged”, he said.

“I look forward to working with all our clubs, officials, parents & players to ensure the YJFL continues to deliver high quality competition & programs. We face an exciting future as we negotiate the replacement of our Bulleen headquarters due to North East Link, the growth in girls football, our umpire recruitment drive & our partnership with VAFA to develop our umpires, & the establishment of our Academy with Collingwood”.

“My earliest priority will be to meet with all of our club Presidents, many of whom I already know through my previous role as Vice-President, to discuss their needs over the next few years”.

“The YJFL is in great shape and I’m looking forward to exploring how we can sensibly continue to grow our outstanding junior football competition”.
